In March of 1999, with less than $3,000 in the checking account, Franklin Heritage, Inc. purchased their first house for restoration for $14,000. It is a 1870s Italianate home.

This timber frame house had been abandoned for approximately 2 years and quickly became the neighborhood dumping grounds. The house had suffered from neglect and had broken windows, holes in the roof and trash piling up in the back yard.

It sold on June 4, 2001 and sparked several neighbors to clean up their properties.
